At the Barrow County Farmers Market, we are proud to feature vendors who bring not only incredible products to our community but also a powerful purpose. Sweet Abilities Bakeshop is a shining example of both.
Founded in 2023, Sweet Abilities Bakeshop is a family-operated cottage bakery rooted in love, passion, and purpose.
As their two sons approached adulthood, Dixie and her family recognized a gap in opportunities for individuals with neurodevelopmental differences, particularly when it comes to job training, skill-building, and meaningful employment. Instead of waiting for change, they created it.
Sweet Abilities was born from a desire to build something bigger than a bakery, it is a space where neurodivergent individuals can grow, contribute, and feel a true sense of belonging. Their mission is simple yet powerful: everyone deserves meaningful work, a sense of purpose, and a place in their community.

And they’re doing just that.
Beyond the kitchen, Sweet Abilities actively partners with incredible local organizations like Amazing
Friends Club in Winder, PIE of Barrow County Schools (including Kennedy Elementary and Auburn Elementary), Special Olympics, Wimberly Roots, and Winder-Barrow Community Theatre, extending their impact far beyond baked goods.
But let’s talk about those baked goods for a moment… because WOW!

Their menu is filled with fun, flavorful desserts made fresh to order, including gourmet NY-style cookies, decadent brownie and blondie slabs, cupcakes, cake jars, and creative cake pops. Their cookies, in particular, are a fan favorite. Each one is a generous 135 grams of pure deliciousness, with crisp edges and a soft, cake-like center bursting with flavor. (The Cookie Butter cookie is a must-try!)
Preparing for market day is a true team effort, each member plays to their strengths, measuring, baking, and packing all with care and intention. And while Dixie jokes that it’s a little “crazy,” it’s clear that every step is filled with heart.
Now entering their third season with the Barrow County Farmers Market, Sweet Abilities has found more than just customers - they’ve found community. The friendships, encouragement, and support from fellow vendors and their customers have become an extension of their family.
What they want you to know most? Your support matters.
Every purchase helps create real opportunities, not just for their sons, but for other neurodivergent individuals in our community. It helps build confidence, skills, and a future where everyone is valued for their unique abilities.
Sweet Abilities Bakeshop isn’t just making desserts, they’re making a difference.
