Patrick Farms is the kind of place where history is woven right into the soil. Owned by Miles and Charlene Patrick, the farm has been in the Patrick family for generations. In the 1970s, the farm opened its fields for the first time, offering you-pick collard greens to the community. That simple beginning quickly grew into a beloved local tradition, filling family tables from October through early January. Today, the Patricks are growing more than 6,000 collard plants, along with broccoli, cauliflower, mustard and turnip greens, two types of cabbages, and crisp lettuce. They also grow a wide array of summer crops, including their summer tomatoes.

The family farm spans 8 acres, with an additional 2 acres across the road and currently has about 4 acres under cultivation. In 2017, Miles and Charlene officially opened their summer produce stand, beginning with surplus okra and summer vegetables from their personal garden. Now they grow a bounty of summer produce, including thousands of pounds of tomatoes, carefully selecting varieties that balance impressive yields with exceptional flavor.

To keep their produce at its best, the Patricks have built smart, innovative systems: a heated greenhouse for starting seeds, a high tunnel, a specially built walk-in cooler to hold summer vegetables at the perfect temperature, and a ripening barn where each tomato is monitored until it’s perfect, ready for the farm stand.
