Vendor Spotlight: Herbs by Deb - A Garden Full of Knowledge and Heart

If you’ve ever wandered through the market and been drawn to a vibrant display of herbs, flowers, and other thriving plants, chances are you’ve visited Herbs by Deb.

Deb and her husband got their start in 2002 by selling Japanese Maples grown from a tree in their own yard at their local farmers market. They added vegetable plants along the way, and before long, Deb was diving into growing herbs and learning how to propagate plants from cuttings.

They have been part of the Barrow County Farmers Market since it first started. Deb also served as Treasurer on the market’s board for two years, showing her dedication to both the market and the community.

If you have ever had a question about plants, Deb is your person. She truly loves teaching others how to plant, grow, and care for their herbs. One of her favorite things is seeing customers return with stories of thriving gardens and successful harvests.

Her booth is full of variety and color. Along with the herbs she is known for, you will find vegetable

plants, flowers, succulents, and houseplants. Some favorites include okra, tomatoes, lavender, basil, roselle hybiscus, coleus, geraniums, rubber trees, jade plants, and more. She also offers pollinator-friendly plants like milkweed, cigar plants and pineapple sage, which help attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your garden.

A fun new product she has available this year is a 'Build Your Own Planter'. Each kit comes with a planter, soil, fertilizer, and your choice of plants. You can put it together yourself or have Deb lend you a hand. It is an excellent gift or a great way to start your herb garden!

Behind the scenes, Deb stays busy in her greenhouse every day. She is always watering, planting, propagating, and preparing what is next. Even while tending to her spring plants, she is already planning to bring mums, violas, and other fall favorites to the market later this year.

When the timing is right, you can also find fresh blueberries at her booth. She carefully cultivates multiple varieties to ensure a long harvest season.

More than anything, Deb brings knowledge, kindness, and a genuine love for helping others grow. When she is not tending plants, you can probably find her out fishing and enjoying a well-earned break.

Be sure to stop by Herbs by Deb and see what she is growing next.
